这个暑期档，前所未有的平淡。但有一部曾低调的国产动画片，却在上映三天后迅速突破6亿票房，成为这个暑假的爆款。这部电影就是80后导演饺子耗时五年的新作《哪吒之魔童降世》。

This summer, a supposed-to-be lucrative season for films, had experienced an unprecedented slowdown for being lack of hits. But an once lesser-known domestic animated film is now becoming a sleeper hit. The film, which has grossed 600 million yuan in merely three days, is Ne Zha, taking the 1980s-born director Jiaozi to produce for five years.

对于许多80后而言，对于哪吒的童年记忆，可能主要来自《封神演义》的绘本小人书，以及1986版《西游记》和1990年版的《封神榜》电视剧。

For most Chinese born in the 1980s, their collective knowledge of Ne Zha — a mythological figure — comes from then popular comic books adapted from the ancient novel Fengshen Yanyi(The Investiture of the Gods), as well as the 1986 TV series The Journey to the Westand the 1990 hit drama Fengshen Bang.

其中，90版中哪吒的扮演者是何威，他也出演了同一年播出的大热央视剧《十六岁的花季》中的“校草”袁野。当时的袁野，丰神俊朗，翩翩美少年的模样，也被不少怀旧的网友誉为“最俊美的哪吒”。

One of the most impressive actors who played Ne Zha is He Wei, also known for his role of Yuan Ye, a student in the popular TV series When We Are Sixteen Years Old. His handsome looks attracted a number of fans, earning him the title of most good-looking Ne Zha cast member by some netizens.

尽管哪吒的故事，在不同的时代有不同的演绎。但无论是幼童时期小肉团子的模样，还是少年时的俊美，哪吒的颜值，从未掉线。

The stories of Ne Zha are retold in diverse ways in different times. But Ne Zha has always been depicted on-screen or in comic books as a physical attractive figure.

但在新版动画片中，哪吒却长成了这样。如今是个看脸的世界，观众们更愿意为银幕上的俊男美女们买单。不得不说，这是个挺有勇气的突破，也说明主创在故事上投入了更多的关注。

But in the new animated film Ne Zha, the title protagonist has a big change to his look. Since today's filmgoers are often attracted to the appearance of leading roles, judging the quality of a film by the appearance of the actors, it is certainly a breakthrough to step away from the physical expectation, and refocus attention towards its rightful place — namely, the story, and how it's told.

To cater to new audiences, there are also several changes in the storyline and other characters from the original Ne Zha story.

哪吒的师傅太乙真人向来是仙风道骨的完美形象。可在这部新片里，却说更像是一个有缺点的普通人，身材肥胖，而且贪杯误事。

For instance, Taiyi Zhenren, the master of Ne Zha, is depicted as a noble, perfect deity. But in the new movie, he is more like an ordinary human being with flaws, slightly larger and alcoholic.

而以往文学作品中懦弱而自私的陈塘关总兵李靖，这次却是为了救哪吒，甘愿牺牲自己性命的好父亲。

Ne Zha's father, Li Jing, is the chief who governs the fictional port city Chen Tang Guan. He is no longer cowardly and selfish as depicted in the past works; instead, he becomes a noble father willing to sacrifice his own life to rescue Ne Zha.

其他角色诸如哪吒的母亲殷夫人、龙王太子敖丙（这位曾经著名的“三太子”在新片里似乎成了独生子）、申公豹等也都刻画得很出色。

Other supporting characters such as Ne Zha's mother, Mrs Yin, Ao Bing, the heir of Dragon King, and Shen Gongbao, are all impressive in the new film.

这几年来，从《西游记大圣归来》到《大鱼海棠》再到《白蛇：缘起》，国产动画片也呈崛起之势。

Domestic animated films have seen a rise in recent years, exemplified by hits like Monkey King: Hero is Back, Big Fish & Begonia, and White Snake.

而其中最让人眼前一亮之初，大概就是东方美学被融入到中国风的动画场面之中。在新版哪吒动画片中，也能看到这样很东方的设计，尤其是在山河社稷图中的场景，磅礴大气。

One of the highlights is that Oriental aesthetics are often featured in these productions. The new Ne Zhafilm also has such designs, especially in the scenes about a painting scroll dubbed as The Mountains and Rivers.

令人期待的是，《哪吒之魔童降世》的结尾彩蛋，有姜子牙的镜头，提前为国内首部姜子牙为主角的大银幕动画片做了预告。而从明年暑期开始，乌尔善闭关十年的《封神三部曲》也将以每年一部的节奏上映。看来，封神宇宙要从此开始，在大银幕上讲中国超级英雄的故事了。

The end of Ne Zha releases a trailer of animated film Jiang Ziya, which will hit theaters next year. Director Wuershan's Fengshen Trilogy, which has taken him ten years to complete, will respectively release one installment each year from 2020. As all these films are inspired from China's classic novel Fengshen Yanyi (The Investiture of the Gods), in many ways, a new cinematic universe about these Chinese superheroes has been launched.
